Stay Safe

7 December 2021 (by Rachel Bradley McKay (Head))

We are all looking forward to celebrating the holiday season as safely as possible. As you will be aware, the Covid-19 pandemic has taken another unexpected turn, with the new variant now creating extra challenges in the community. You can find the full Risk Assessment and Outbreak Management Plan on our school website - as well as additional resources and information for parents.

We have found that Lateral Flow testing has identified some asymptomatic cases of Covid-19 in the school community, and although initially not recommended for children at primary school, many parents have used LFDs for children of this age. If your child shows any symptoms of Covid-19 (high temperature, cough or loss of smell/taste) it is very important to arrange a PCR test as soon as possible. Other early symptoms of Covid-19 for young children have included nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting and muscle aches.

Unless used to confirm a positive LFD, we strongly recommend going to a testing centre for a PCR rather than postal versions. This means that if the result is negative, your child will be able to return to school once they are well enough.

At the moment we are experiencing staff shortages. The school team are doing a brilliant job to help each other out and cover the additional workload to keep things running smoothly, but this is a very challenging time (again)! We are looking forward to the festive events in the last few days of term. Thank you for supporting the school through this period.
