Art: Relief Printing
This week, Beech Class have completed their Art project - relief printing!
We began the week looking at a variety of Roman shields and commenting on what we liked and didn't like about them.
These inspired us to create our own Roman shields!
After this, we drew our designs onto cardboard and spent time creating a relief print, using string. Some children found this step tricky, as it required a lot of concentration!
When this was dry, we used black in and had a go at rolling the ink onto our print to create a printed Roman shield!

Science: Mary Anning Factfile
This term, in Science, we have been looking at different rocks and soils.
As part of this unit of work, we have also been looking at fossils.
Mary Anning was a significant person during this time.
We created factfiles about her independently.

Science: Permability experiement
In Science, we have been learning about what permeable and impermeable means.
Permeable means that water can pass through and impermeable means the opposite - it doesn't let water through.
We carried out an investigation into which rocks were permeable and impermeable.

Roman Adventure Day
We spent the first day of term exploring our new topic, When in Rome…
To begin with, we made Roman honey biscuits. They looked delicious!
Afterwards, we followed an online tutorial to help us draw our own Roman soldiers.
