Changes to Free School Meal Eligibility from September 2026
The way Free School Meal (FSM) eligibility is assessed is changing from Spetember 2026.
Please take a look at the attached poster and letter from Goucestershire County Council detailing these changes.
Please be aware that the auto-enrolment process that was recently introduced does not replace the need for parents to make an application for FSM.
If you believe your child/ren are entitled to FSM, please do make an application using the online portal.
The link to the online application portal can be found on the GCC website website Apply for free school meals | Gloucestershire County Council
An introduction from Anna Mason
Dear Parents and Carers,
Please see the attached letter from Mrs Mason. Please join us in welcoming her to our lovely school community.
For a chance to get to know Mrs Mason, she will be attending our parent coffee club taking place during our third transition session on Thursday 9th July. We hope to see those who can make it then.
Parking Notice - keeping our community safe
We have noticed an increase once again in those who drive to school using the layby and front gate.
This results in a more hazardous environment, especially in the mornings.
Parking in the front layby also prevents important school transport from parking in the layby where they are required to park.
We ask that all parents and carers who drive to school please park at the village hall and use the back gate.
Please do keep this in mind if you drive to school and help us to keep our school community safe and running smoothly for all.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
Staffing Update
Thank you for your patience while final staffing plans have been put into place.
We can now share that Mrs Katie England will be joining the teaching team in September. Mrs England will be teaching Willow Class and is very excited to meet everyone on Thursday for the final transition session. I am sure you will join me in welcoming her to the team - feel free to say hello and introduce yourself at the end of the day on Thursday after the transition session.
Classes for September:
Ash Class (pre-school and Reception) - Mrs Warren
Oak Class (Year 1 and 2) - Mrs Jaworski and Mr Allen
Beech Class (Year 3 and 4)- Miss Jordan
Willow Class (Year 5 and 6) - Mrs England
In the same way that they have done this year, Beech and Willow Class will join together for some lessons across the week to ensure they have the best opportunities to develop their learning.
End of Key Stage 2 Results for Year 6 Pupils and Parents
I am writing to let you know about a delay to this year's Key Stage 2 test results, which affects all schools nationally.
Schools were due to receive results on 7 July 2026. However, Pearson Education Limited, the provider responsible for administering, marking, and returning Key Stage 2 results to schools has informed the Department for Education of a delay affecting the national system used to make results available to schools. We have been informed today that schools will not receive the results until 16 July 2026.
We understand that this is frustrating, but we are not able to change this. Parents will still receive their child's report at the planned time, but it will not have the Key Stage 2 Assessment results included. These will be shared as soon as we are able to.
This will not impact your child’s transition to secondary school and no action is required from parents or pupils.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Flu Vaccination information September 2026
For current pre-school to Year 5 parents
Dear Parents and Carers,
The immunisation team will be at school on Thursday 10 September 2026, delivering flu vaccines to children in Reception to Year 6.
If your child is due to be in Reception to Year 6 next academic year, please see the attached letter detailing important information on the National Flu Vaccination Programme for 2026.
You need to provide consent or decline your child receiving the flu vaccine. Please see the link in the letter to do this. The letter also contains our unique school code which you will require when providing or declining consent.
Please also see the attached flyer with further information on protecting your child against flu.
Please note, if your child is currently in Year 6, you do not need to do anything, as their vaccination will be organised through their new school.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the School Office.
School Reports 2026
Heatwaves and drowning risk resources from the RLSS
Dear Parents and Carers,
please find a message below from PC Leah Davies, our local police engagement officer on the risk of drowning in heatwaves:
During the May heatwave, at least 13 children and teenagers in the UK died from drowning.
Some local schools are running assemblies by the Royal Life Saving Society to discourage open water swimming - lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and canals.
Despite some hard-hitting content, many young people (mostly young men, most at risk from drowning inland) still believe it couldn't happen to them.
Last week's heatwave may have come to an end but you might find these resources useful.
