Beech Class are going to The Wilson Museum!

Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of our Ice Kingdom topic, I am really pleased to let you know we have organised a visit to The Edward Wilson Museum on Thursday 12th February 2026.

The children will have the opportunity to find out more about Edward Wilson’s life, take a guided trail around the related parts of the museum and have a go at making mapping and drawing the Antarctic environment. As well as this, we will also get to try out some of the foods that the explorers ate whilst travelling through Antarctica, as well as looking in more detail at the clothing and medicine that was needed.

The school are subsidising the cost of the transport and the workshop for this visit. We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £10 per child to help towards the cost of this opportunity. Your child will not be denied a place on the trip if you decline to make a voluntary contribution.

However, we will not be able to continue with the visit if it clear that there will be insufficient contributions to cover the costs. In an effort to become a ‘cashless’ school, payment should be made online via ParentPay.

Please can you make your voluntary payment, or let us know if you do not wish to contribute, by Tuesday 27th January.

More information can be found in the letter on the Letters and Forms page of the school website: Letters & Forms | Andoversford Primary School

Dear Parents

Before Christmas, all children in KS2 were tested on the Common Exception words for Years 2, 3 and 4. These words are statutory, set out in the National Curriculum, and are words that children across the country should be able to read, correctly spell, understand the meaning of and use in their everyday Writing. Your child has brought home a set of personalised words, with the words highlighted that were spelt correctly during the test. Please could you support them at home with these words, so that they can correctly read and write all of the words on the list by February Half Term. We will also be practising these words in school.

Your child will also be bringing home sentences to learn for the class assembly next week. Again, please could you encourage and support them at home with this.

Thank you for your support

What I wish my parents or carers knew...

What I wish my parents or carers knew...

Parenting today can feel overwhelming — especially when childhood looks so different from what we grew up with. There’s no manual, and it can be hard to keep up with the fast-changing digital world your child moves through every day.

Supporting children’s safety is a shared responsibility between families, schools and wider society. For parents and carers, this responsibility has become increasingly complex as children’s lives are now deeply intertwined with the digital world. Many parents face difficult decisions about how to balance protecting children from online harm with enabling access to spaces that are now central to learning, socialising and play.

The Children's Commisioner has published a guide for parents on managing children's digital lives. This guide was written with the direct involvement of children in England. It is a reflection of their views. It aims to make those conversations easier and help you support your child with confidence.

Friends of Andoversford donation announcement
Friends of Andoversford would like to share some more wonderful donation news with you.

Just before the Christmas break, Friends of Andoversford received a generous £500 donation from a Beech Class family relative. This donation was made via the relative's company Natoli UK Ltd. We are incredibly grateful for this support and the donation will once again be put towards our trim trail fundraising target of £20,000.

A huge thank you to Craig from all of us for this support!

Did you know that donations to charities via companies can offer tax benefits? Also if you choose to make a personal donation some employers will also match your donation – doubling the amount donated, so it’s worth checking.

Annual Permissions required for 2026

Annual Permissions required for 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

To ensure accurate record keeping, we are required to ensure the data we hold is correct each year.

With this in mind, please find a link below to an online form which contains details of our Annual Permissions. Please could you kindly complete one form for each child who attends the school.

The online form, itroduced for the first time last academic year, replaces the previously used paper version, and removes the administrative burden on parents to print, complete and scan back to us.

If you had a child who was a new starter this year, you do not need to complete a form for them as the one submitted as part of their application is still valid.

Please only complete if your child has been at the school for more than 12 months.

We would be grateful if this could be completed by Friday 9th January.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation.

Dear Beech Class Families

I hope you have all had a good break and are looking forward to the new term. I just wanted to send a reminder about a few changes to the timetable this term. Our PE days have changed and will now be on Mondays and Wednesdays. Swimming lessons will begin on Monday 12th January. Please ensure that you have the correct swimming kit for your child and that you have completed the online questionnaire. Please come to see me if you have any questions about the swimming lessons. The transport will be leaving promptly at 9:00 every Monday so please ensure your child is in school for the register at 8:50. Our other PE lesson will be held outdoors on Wednesday afternoons. Again, please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit in school.

We will also be practising our oracy skills this term and next week is the class heats for the Look Who's Talking competition. Please could you support your child if they would like to practise for this at home.

Finally, Beech Class parents and carers are invited to join us for our Celebration Assembly taking place on Friday 23rd January at 1:15pm.

Please come along and listen to some of the lovely achievements we will be celebrating as a school. The children from Beech class will also be sharing their learning from last term.

We hope to see you there!

Thank you for your support

Oak Class News

Dear Oak Class Families,

I hope you have had a wonderful break and are feeling well rested for another exciting term ahead. I just wanted to send out a reminder about a couple of things as the welcome pack for spring term will not be on the class page until this Friday.

First of all, we will continue to have forest school time on Tuesday afternoons. Please could pupils bring their forest school kits tomorrow. It will be very cold so its important that they have appropriate kit to make the most of of their time in our Nature area.

We will also be doing PE on alternate Fridays this term. We will be having our first PE session this Friday, so children will need their PE kits with them. Weather dependent, we will be having some of our PE sessions outdoors, so again, appropriate footwear and clothing will be needed to allow them to participate in these sessions fully.

Lastly, this term we will be practicing our oracy skills as part of the Look Who's Talking competition and as part of our class text. Our class text for the next few weeks is about a little girl who has a great intrest in space. She spends lots of her time star gazing and is very knowledgeble about all things space themed. With this in mind, we are going to practice talking about our own intrests/hobbies within our English lessons. To help aid your child in doing this, you may want to consider sending in a picture of your child doing something or researching something they love. We are very much looking forward to hearing the children share their intrests with us all.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

Miss DW & Miss J
