Calling all young artists!
We have received the following information from Nature in Art regarding its first Young Artists Exhibition. If you have a keen artist at home, read on to find out more.
This coming February Half Term 2026, Nature in Art Museum and Gallery are hosting its first Young Artist Exhibition (YAE). The YAE is a chance for young artists aged between 4 and 18, who are passionate about art and creativity, to produce a piece of artwork that they are proud of and have the chance for it to be displayed in a real gallery exhibition. The artwork submitted will be looked at by a panel of artists who will choose which work will be exhibited. For those exhibiting, there will be a ‘first prize’ within each age category, also chosen by the artist panel.
The age categories are:
· 4 – 6
· 7 – 9
· 10 – 13
· 14 – 16
· 17 – 18
Our theme for this year’s YAE is: ‘Our Great Outdoors: Art Inspired by the Natural World’. This is title can be interpreted however the children like, it is their work. The T&C’s contain measurement requirements for the artwork.
This YAE will also be an opportunity to raise funds for our Education Centre and art resources so we can continue to impact and inspire young artists in the future. It is a small donation of £2.50 per young artist who enters.

NCMP and Vision Screening for Reception and Y6
For parents of children in Reception and Year 6
Each year in England, school children in Reception and Year 6 have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP). Children in Reception also have a vision screening test.
This year, our school will be visited by the School Nursing Team on Friday 7th November to carry out the NCMP and vision screening checks.
A letter from the school nursing team containing full details of the programme for parents of children in Reception and a separate letter with information for parents of children in Year 6, can be found on the Letters and Forms page of the school website: Andoversford Primary School - Letters & Forms
Within the letter you will also find the Gloucestershire NCMP Privacy Notice, too. Taking part in the programme is optional and both letters contain a link to opt your child out if you wish. You can also call 0300 421 8225 if you do not wish for your child to be screened.
For further details, please do feel free to get in touch with the school office.

Willow Class News
Lots to celebrate
This week we celebrated Freddie in Ash who received an ASPIRE award for fantastic effort in his phonics. It has been great to see his attitude to learning in school and at home! Well done!
Allayna from Oak was selected as the Mystery Reader this week and after careful consideration, she donated a very exciting non-fiction book to Willow Class. They will be delighted to have 'Rivers around the World' in the class library!
We also had the much anticipated reveal of this year's House Captains and Deputies. Congratulations to those who have been chosen for the important role. We were pleased to have detailed application forms showing why they wanted to support their house - and the school. This afternoon, the Captains and Deputies discussed their job roles and organised some new responsibilities - watch out for these pupils - they are future leaders!
Oak Class News
Dear Oak Class families,
Next week, as part of our magical mapping geography topic we will be following a pre-planned route around Andoversford village. The children are very much looking forward to creating their own maps and discovering the landmarks around the village! They will not need to bring in anything additional for this.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Miss J and Miss DW

School Uniform
School uniform should be worn by all pupils on every day that they are in school.
Plain black school shoes should be worn by all pupils every day, apart from on Funky Feet Friday when children can wear any shoes they like if they have walked to school that week.
Long hair should be tied up.
A simple wristwatch and a single pair of stud earrings are the only items of jewellery permitted in school. Smartwatches are not permitted.
Make-up, including nail varnish should not be worn in school.
We encourage children to take care of their things as much as possible during the day, but we do often have items left on the benches, playground or field. Please name all items of uniform so that we can return them to their rightful owner if they have been misplaced.
All children also need a separate outdoor learning kit in school. This should include a long-sleeved top and long trousers even in the summer months. It is very important that arms and legs are covered to avoid small scratches and stings. This enables children to feel more comfortable when exploring our Forest School area.
More information regarding our uniform requirements can be found on the school website.
If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you.
