At Andoversford Primary, we are an inclusive and outward facing school at the heart of our community. As such we are always looking for ways to work in partnership with others to help and support the wider community around us. We are delighted to be able to let you know that from September 2025, we are going to be working in partnership with Altus School.
Altus will be leasing the Community Cabin to provide a Satellite Base. Altus School are commissioned by the Local Authority as a short stay school for children who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. They offer alternative provision to best meet the needs of the pupils to enable them to successfully continue with their education.
The Altus Vision: A supportive and nurturing school that provides a sense of belonging so that children and staff feel accepted, included and protected to enable them to flourish both in school and in their wider communities.
Altus will retain full responsibility for all pupils who attend the satellite base - it will be their school hosted on our site - but we are privileged to be able to offer a venue which will allow even more children to flourish. I am sure that you will welcome the Altus team and their pupils into the Andoversford family.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions, welcome messages, compliments or worries. We will also be jointly hosting a drop in session for the whole community at 4:30 on Wednesday 21st May. Come along to see Mrs Bradley McKay and Colin Ellyatt, the head of Primary at Altus. Feel free to share this message widely, as some community members may not receive school communication directly.
We just wanted to pass on the big thanks we have received from James Hopkins Trust to those who were able to donate towards our Easter Appeal. Together we managed to raise £46 for the charity!
It is wonderful to be able to support local causes as a community and we know how much our support meant to the charity.
Our donation will help the charity to continue the work it does to provide nursing-led respite care for life-limited and life-threatened young children across Gloucestershire.
James Hopkins Trust have recently had a new video made showing all of the incredible work that is carried out by the team and a day in the life here at Kite’s Corner. This can be seen here: Kites Corner - James Hopkins Trust
Thank you all once again.
Dear Beech and Willow Class parents and carers,
We have been able to secure tickets for several events at Cheltenham Science Festival this year. We are pleased to let you know that we have organised for Beech and Willow class to attend the festival on Wednesday 4th June 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to further their scientific knowledge, be inspired at a national event and develop their understanding of topics covered in our science curriculum.
We have subsidised the cost of the visit and are asking for a voluntary contribution of £9.45 per child. Your child will not be denied a place on the trip if you decline to make a voluntary contribution. However, we will not be able to continue with the visit if it is clear there will be insufficient contributions to cover the costs. In an effort to become a ‘cashless’ school, payment should be made online via ParentPay.
Please make your voluntary contribution or let us know if you do not wish to contribute by Wednesday 14th May 2025.
More information about workshops, payments and travel arrangements are detailed in the letter available on the website: Letters & Forms | Andoversford Primary School
After our initial parent survey, EduBox have shared with us that they could offer Holiday Clubs if there is enough interest at Andoversford. They have provided this short form to help see if it is viable to organise the Holiday Care.
The club can offer provision from 9am to 5pm for £125 per week - or a day rate of £38 is available. They are not able to accept childcare vouchers.
This provision will only be running if there are enough bookings. EduBox have provided this form to register by Tuesday next week if you are interested:
Cotswold Art Through Schools are a local charity who support schools to access The Arts! We were lucky enough to work with them to organise the portrait workshops earlier this year. They have also fully funded the Beech and Willow Class to visit the Sculpture Garden next week - even paying for the transport to get us there!
In order to help fund their work, they offer public access to the Scultpure Garden for a limited period. If you or someone you know is interested in visiting take a look at the details here:
