Exciting News!

20 May 2022 (by Hayley Armstrong (admin))

In September 2022, Andoversford Primary School will be expanding our Early Years provision to include children in the Nursery Year (the September following their 3rd birthday) alongside pupils in their Reception Year (the September following their 4th birthday).

As you know, we have fantastic facilities and staff in our Early Years classroom and outdoor area, as well as incredible learning opportunities within the wider school grounds. The Governing Board have identified additional capacity to strengthen our offer to the local community by offering a limited number of places for children in this new age range. From this September, Ash Class will have capacity to welcome up to 8 YN children alongside up to 15 YR pupils.

At Andoversford, we pride ourselves on how well pupils interact across all year groups so we look forward to sharing this ethos with even more children in our community. Children in the Nursery Year will be integrated into our fully inclusive school and will get to know the whole school environment for an extremely smooth transition into primary school.

Our Early Years Hub in Ash Class will be a unique opportunity for children to begin their learning journey in a specialised setting, with a dedicated teacher who will deliver the Early Years Curriculum to a mixed-age group. As a small school, our teaching staff are experts at supporting mixed-age teaching to ensure that all pupils receive the very best early education possible. We follow the Early Years Framework in Ash Class, which ensures that children have a wide range of opportunities to learn through play, develop personal, social and emotional skills, and gain a thirst for knowledge. Activities for YN pupils and YR pupils will be carefully structured to meet the needs of each group, and indeed the needs of all individuals within those groups.

Places for YN children will available Term-Time only and will match school hours. This means if you have a child at the school, you can drop off and collect at the same time! Information about session times, booking options, lunch and snack information can be requested from the school office, and will soon be available on the website.

We also have plans to offer parent and toddler Forest School Sessions in the future. Watch this space!

We hope you are as excited as we are about this new venture and how it will shape the future of our amazing school. If you do have any questions or want any more information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
