Half-term activities in the Cotswolds

9 February 2023 (by Hayley Armstrong (admin))

The Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF) is a Department for Education funded initiative to provide free activities and food for children in reception to year 11 who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.  The programme has strict guidelines on eligibility, however, using grant funding, there will be some activities which are open to all children and young people including a special programme in Tetbury and a free community fun day in Cirencester on Friday 24th February.

Cotswold Youth Network, working in partnership with Cotswold District Council and World Jungle has successfully bid for funding to deliver a programme of activities for eligible children across the Cotswold district this half term. The activities are funded by the Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board who recognise the impact that the rise in the cost of living may have on health over the winter months. Ben Ward from World Jungle said: “Our previous holiday programmes have been a great success, and to have secured additional funds to run this during the half term is fantastic. It will no doubt be a big help to those impacted by the cost-of-living crisis.”

The free activities will include circus skills, rally driving, archery, forest school sessions, holiday camps and more, during the week of 20th – 24th February in venues across the Cotswold district.
