Parent Governor

6 June 2023 (by Hayley Armstrong (admin))

Please find a message below from the Chair of Governors:

We wrote to you in February to invite nominations to fill the Parent Governor vacancy on the governing board. We are pleased to let you know that we have received the following nomination. If any other parent wishes to put themselves forward, please do so by noon on Tuesday 13th June so that we can organise an election. If no other nominations are received by this date, the nominee will be elected unopposed.

A brief pen portrait about yourself

Hi my name is Nicki and I have 2 children in the school. I work full time for Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), a global professional services (consultancy) partnership, and I manage their 3rd party relationships with other companies.  I live in Andoversford having recently moved into the village and love village life.  I’m a member of the PTA, have joined the local gym and love the wonderful community we have that links with many parents from the school and has helped me to form great friendships locally.

Why would you like to be a governor?

I would like to be a governor to help the school be the best it can possibly be for our children and to contribute to the local community I am now a part of.  As a parent governor with young kids at the school, hopefully I can provide suitable representation of the parent community and can contribute through questioning and communication skills learnt in business.

What would you bring to the role?

A fresh pair of eyes, a questioning mind and a collaborative approach will hopefully be useful to the school and board.  Having worked for 23 years in a few leadership roles, I have learnt a lot about the importance of support, communication, collaboration and diplomacy, and with 2 small kids; negotiation, patience and empathy too.  I love helping and coming up with solutions to problems, and hope to be able to positively contribute to the school, the community and of course, the parents and children’s experience of the school.
