Where have all the trees gone?

15 June 2023 (by Hayley Armstrong (admin))

You will have noticed that several trees outside the school entrance along Old Gloucester Road have recently been felled.  These trees were outside our boundary and therefore nothing to do with school.  The work was ordered by Gloucestershire County Council and carried out by the Highways Team as the trees were deemed unsafe because they were infected with Ash Dieback.

Ash Dieback disease causes Ash trees to become unsafe as the tree could shed limbs or collapse on to the road causing harm and injury. The work was therefore essential for health and safety reasons, to protect road users and pedestrians, and make sure the carriageway remains clear of debris.

We are extremely fortunate to have plenty of fantastic trees on our school site with very few being affected by Ash Dieback.
